Micaiah and Matthias Becker first began playing airsoft in late 2016 after being invited to a game at a friend’s house, and they were immediately drawn to the hobby. In December 2018, their family moved to the island of Guam for mission work. While there, they spent time with a close family friend, Carson Conway. A few months after arriving, the three boys asked their parents for permission to play airsoft together behind the Becker home. To demonstrate responsibility, they created a written agreement outlining rules and expectations. After review, both sets of parents approved the plan, officially allowing them to begin their airsoft journey together.
In the beginning, the group started with a single spring pistol, given to Matthias for his birthday. As word spread and more friends joined, additional equipment was purchased and the group steadily grew. By 2020, the airsoft crew included Micaiah, Matthias, Carson, and roughly nine other friends. Aside from the Becker brothers, most members lived in a military housing community called Apra View, which ultimately inspired the group’s name.
The group met weekly to play airsoft in the hot, humid jungles of Guam, often playing for around five hours every Wednesday using small spring pistols as their standard equipment. Even during the early stages of COVID-19 in 2020, the group continued to meet regularly. Over time, the small gathering grew into a consistent group of nearly 12 dedicated players.
In 2021, the Becker brothers moved from Guam, leaving behind their small airsoft group as many of their fellow military friends relocated as well. After returning to the United States, they quickly picked the hobby back up, this time playing with their longtime friend and neighbor, Nathan. What began as a small group steadily grew to a size similar to their original crew in Guam. As their interest deepened, the Becker brothers began investing in additional gear and equipment, allowing them to introduce more people to the sport.
In late 2022, they were reunited with their longtime friend Carson, who had co-founded the original group but had played very little since the Guam group disbanded. The three were able to play together once more—this time alongside well-known airsoft YouTuber Novritsch. It was a memorable experience for all of them. Soon after, however, their paths diverged again as the Becker brothers returned home and Carson went on to enlist in the Navy.
Today, Apra Airsoft is a growing ministry, with around 20 players attending each monthly meeting—and that number continues to rise. These two passionate young men remain dedicated to the sport, investing their time and energy into helping younger players create meaningful experiences and lasting memories.
In December 2024, Apra Airsoft welcomed Noah Brown as its first official staff member. Since then, Apra Airsoft has grown to a team of five young, Christ-centered men. The staff program is dedicated to furthering our mission of ministering to the King George community through Airsoft and public Christian outreach. Below are our current and former staff members.
